Trinity Cardiometabolic Prevention Panel | £430
A deeper look at your future heart and metabolic health - for anyone who wants to know more than a standard blood profile can tell them
Routine bloods — a full lipid profile, glucose, and HbA1c — remain an important part of every health check, but they can’t always catch the earliest changes linked to cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance, and chronic inflammation. This panel adds four advanced biomarkers that give a deeper view of your future risk, interpreted alongside your history, examination, and standard bloods — helping identify hidden risk earlier, with more personalised, preventative advice as a result.
The four markers
Apollipoprotein B (ApoB)
Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) is the main protein found on the lipoprotein particles that carry cholesterol and other fats through the bloodstream. Many of these particles, including LDL (“bad” cholesterol), can enter the artery wall and contribute to plaque formation.
A routine cholesterol test tells us how much cholesterol is being carried. An ApoB test tells us how many potentially harmful particles are carrying it.
Think of it like traffic on a motorway. A standard cholesterol test tells us the total weight of the traffic, whereas ApoB counts the number of vehicles on the road. The more vehicles there are, the greater the opportunity for them to cause congestion. Likewise, the greater the number of ApoB-containing particles, the greater the opportunity for cholesterol to become trapped within the artery wall.
This means it is possible to have a normal LDL cholesterol level but still have a raised ApoB, particularly in people with insulin resistance, prediabetes or excess visceral fat. Measuring ApoB provides a more accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk than LDL cholesterol alone.
Lipoprotein (a) - Lp(a)
Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), is an inherited lipoprotein particle that is not measured as part of a routine cholesterol profile. Raised levels can significantly increase the lifetime risk of heart attack, stroke and aortic valve disease — even when other cholesterol levels are normal. As Lp(a) is genetically determined and remains relatively stable throughout life, it usually only needs to be measured once.
Fasting Insulin
Glucose and HbA1c tell us how your body is coping today. Fasting insulin tells us how hard your body is having to work to keep those levels normal. Raised insulin is often one of the earliest signs of insulin resistance and may become abnormal many years before blood glucose levels rise, providing an opportunity to intervene long before diabetes develops.
High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)
A routine CRP test is designed to detect significant inflammation, such as an infection. High-sensitivity CRP measures much lower levels of ongoing inflammation that would not usually be detected by a standard CRP test. This low-grade inflammation has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and provides an additional insight into long-term vascular health.
Please note: This is a fasting blood panel. Please fast for 8-12 hours before your appointment. Water is encouraged during the fasting period.
At Trinity Medical GP Clinic, we believe the best opportunity to prevent disease is before it develops. This advanced panel helps us identify hidden risk earlier — enabling more personalised advice and proactive care to support your long-term health.

I left with a clear plan of treatment.

I enjoyed a medical visit to a surgery.
The wonderful Dr Maria Carrasco
With so many years of experience in large numbers of people in her practice
.Really listened to me.
I had been feeling so worried as my condition
seemed to be getting worse A really horrendous experience.I felt the medical profession were letting me down completely .
In leaving me for nearly four months in constant pain And only sending in a referral to a specialist in the last four weeks .With long waiting lists .
So you can imagine how I felt when the amazing Dr Maria Carrasco phoned the Laboratory on my behalf regarding samples.
And outlined a treatment plan for me
it was like coming out of a nightmare .She listens to her patients .
And I felt for the first time for months that she understood what I was going through and that she was going to take the right action for me.
And would do everything in her power
To get me the correct treatment to put an end to my problem The relief was instant and I floated on air out of the surgery.
Then I started phoning everyone that I knew who were worried about health.problems to Come to the Trinity surgery and get help .
I had the most
wonderful consultation that I have ever had in my long life with a caring professional .who put my mind at rest immediately .
Doctors also refer patients to the surgery as
