Meet The Team
Dr Maria Carrasco | Medical Director | General Practitioner
Dr Maria Carrasco is the Clinical Director of Trinity Medical GP Clinic and brings over 25 years of experience in primary care, with a distinguished career dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within the NHS.
She qualified from King’s College London in 1994 and completed her early medical training across several leading London teaching hospitals, developing a strong clinical foundation across a broad range of medical disciplines before specialising in general practice. Throughout her career, Dr Carrasco has remained committed to the core principles of traditional family medicine: continuity of care, sound clinical judgement, and long-term doctor-patient relationships built on trust and understanding.
Dr Carrasco has spent all of her professional life working within the NHS, and the vast majority of her career has been in primary care. She has worked in various practices from small to large, and eventually went on to run her own GP practice single-handedly in Carshalton Beeches, caring for a list of over 4,000 patients. In this role, she was responsible not only for the full spectrum of clinical care, but also for practice leadership, operational oversight, and maintaining high standards of governance and patient safety. Her ability to deliver consistent, personalised care at scale reflects both her clinical experience and her deep commitment to her patient’s wellbeing.
Over the years, Dr Carrasco has supported patients across a wide range of medical needs. She is known for her attentive, thoughtful, and patient-centred approach, taking the time to listen carefully, explain diagnoses clearly, and ensure patients feel informed and confident in the decisions they make about their health.
In recent years, Dr Carrasco has observed that increasing time pressures and systemic constraints within modern general practice have made it progressively harder to practise medicine to the standard she believes patients deserve. Trinity Medical GP Clinic was established to allow her to return to a model of care she believes is best for patients and doctors alike, rooted in clinical excellence, longer consultations, and evidence-based decision-making – without compromise.
Dr Carrasco believes that excellent medical care is not defined solely by diagnosis or treatment, but by the quality of the relationship between doctor and patient, and by creating the time and space for meaningful, informed discussion.
Throughout her career Dr Carrasco has been a strong advocate for teaching and mentoring. She has worked for many years as a GP tutor, teaching medical students from St George’s Medical School and supporting them in developing the fundamentals of clinical diagnosis, decision-making, and patient management. She has also mentored non-GP colleagues, helping to upskill them so they have the confidence and capability to progress within their chosen fields. For Dr Carrasco, being a doctor is both a humbling responsibility and a great privilege, and she has sought to pass this perspective on to her students and colleagues, with the hope that the next generation of medical professionals carries these values forward into their own practice.
“My aim is to provide evidence-based guidance with a holistic approach to your wellbeing, so you can make informed decisions about your health. You will have the time and space to discuss your concerns in a safe, warm and welcoming environment, and I will always act as an advocate for your healthcare needs.
I believe that excellent medical care is built on trust, listening, and meaningful conversation. If I say I will call you back, I will call you; if I say I will follow something up, I will do so. I take this responsibility seriously and practise medicine with the same care and integrity today as when I first took my pledge as a doctor.
I continue to find great fulfilment in my work and in the relationships I build with my patients. Having the opportunity to help people for a living is something I value deeply, and I very much look forward to building a practice grounded in this philosophy and welcome you to join me.”
