Taxi & Private Hire Driver Medicals

If you drive a taxi or private hire vehicle in London, you are required by Transport for London (TfL) to pass a medical examination before your licence is issued or renewed. At Trinity Medical GP Clinic, our experienced GP provides fast, professional taxi medicals at our clinic in Carshalton Beeches - with same-day appointments available.

Taxi & Private Hire Driver Medical - 30 minutes | £80

  • Full review of your medical history
  • Blood pressure check
  • Eye assessment (for drivers who do not require corrective lenses when driving)
  • Completion and signing of your TfL Medical form (TPH/204)

Drivers who wear glasses or contact lenses when driving must obtain a current report from a registered optician before their appointment. We are unable to complete your TfL form without this.

Before your appointment - what to prepare

TfL requires the examining doctor to have access to your full medical history. As a private clinic, we do not hold your NHS records. You must therefore download and bring your full patient record before attending.

How to download your NHS records:

  1. Download the NHS App on your smartphone
  2. Log in using your NHS login details
  3. Go to Health records and download your full GP record
  4. Send us the downloaded file prior to your appointment

What to bring on the day

  • Your completed TfL Medical form (TPH/204) – you can download this from the TfL Website
  • Photo ID (driving license or passport)
  • A full list of your current medications and dosages
  • Optician’s report – if you wear glasses or contact lenses when driving
  • Your driving glasses or contact lenses

Frequently Asked Questions

Can any GP complete my TfL taxi medical?

TfL requires the examining doctor to have access to your full medical history. At Trinity Medical, we ask you to provide your full NHS record, which you can download via the NHS App, which allows our GP to complete the medical in full compliance with TfL requirements.

How long will the appointment take?

Your appointment is 30 minutes. Please arrive on time and with all required documents – incomplete paperwork may mean we are unable to complete the medical on the day.

When will I receive my completed medical form?

Your completed TfL form will be handed to you at the end of your appointment in straightforward cases. If we require additional time to review your medical history, we will update you on when you can expect to receive your completed form.

I don’t wear glasses – do I still need an eye test?

If you do not require corrective lenses when driving, our GP will carry out the eye assessment as part of your appointment. No separate optician visit is needed.

Where are you located?

We are located at 11 Beeches Avenue, Carshalton Beeches, SM5 3LB. Free parking is available on site. We are a short walk from Carshalton Beeches Station.
